Snapshot – Youth Hotel

Youth Hotel

Youth Hotel is a Nottingham based jangly, reverby, Indie five-piece. Our most evident influences are the early sounds of bands such as Arctic Monkeys and The Strokes, but we are partially influenced by classical jazz and hard rock which culminate to create a unique alternative rock sound.

Band members:

Vocalist/collector of outrageous shirts Jack Bratby, drummer/rabbit lover Will Rabjohns, rhythm guitarist/king of the shimmer reverb Ben Thompson, lead guitarist/Alex Turner lookalike Ben Phair and bassist/chief worrier Nathan Whalley.

Youth Hotel began in August 2017 when I (Jack) enlisted drummer and good friend Will Rabjohns to join me on the project.

Later that month I asked Ben Phair, a recently made friend to join the band. It took a few months for ‘Phairy’ to settle down but we soon converted him from a raging metal head to an Indie loving freak with hair worthy of a L’oreal advert.

In September 2017, Benjamin Thompson joined the band as rhythm guitarist, thanks to a tip from a close friend and at this point we began to take writing original material more seriously with Ben bringing our debut single ‘Little Miss Sunshine’ to the table.

The final member to join was bassist Nathan Whalley (another mutual friend of the band), who completed the quintet in November 2017.

We made our first live appearance, playing the heats of the ‘Noise from the next generation’ competition hosted by Nottingham Music Hub, and the final hosted at Rock city Basement. This opened many doors for us such as several support slots at venues including The Chameleon and Bodega as well as a headline show at Rough Trade Nottingham.

Working On:

In August 2018, we released our two debut singles, ‘Candyflip’ and ‘Little Miss Sunshine’. Since then, we have been working on our debut EP, ‘Hedonia’ with our extremely talented producers: Tristan Hill and Joe Fisher from Rainy Daze Recordings.

‘Hedonia’ is the result of a successful crowdfunding campaign which raised nearly £1600 towards production costs and will be released late August/early September so follow us on social media and spotify to keep up to date with our releases.
